What Does It Mean to Be Page One on Google?

Everyone says they want to get SEO so they can get to page one on Google. However, only a few people truly understand what that means. Do you? Yes, it puts you at the top of the results for a search query. However, what does that mean for your business? It means that for all of the people who search for that keyword or phrase each month, you could get the lion’s share of the visits. So, what does that mean?

Getting to page One on Google is Hard Work But Worth It

When you get your website to rank on page one of Google, it means that you have the potential to get seen by a lot of people. However, it all depends on what the keyword or phrase is you are there for. Let us break this down into an example.

Say your business is a bakery. You just found out that you are on page one of Google for the keyword “fresh cookies in Austin”. Assuming you sell fresh cookies and are located in Austin, this should be a big win for you. It means that out of the people who look this term up each month, they will see your page first. It also means that you are more likely to get customers than the results that came in lower down the page or on the second or third page.

The higher you fall in the rankings for Google, the more likely you are to get customers out of those searches. You do have to make sure that you are getting good rankings with the right words, however. Getting on page one for a product you do not sell does you no good.
