Tips for a Better Looking, User-Friendly Website

When people initially come to your website, how much time are they spending on the site before leaving? If they hop onto your site and don’t look around and check out what your site has to offer, you have to ask yourself why. Sometimes, it could be due to the look and usability of your site. If you don’t have a user-friendly website, people will likely just start to look elsewhere for similar content or products.

If you have a high bounce rate from your site, it might be time to rethink the way your website looks and works. Let’s examine a few of the ways that you can make your site better for visitors.

You Need a Site that Works for Mobile

Your site should be responsive. After all, more than half of the searches online are being made through mobile devices. If your site doesn’t look good or doesn’t work properly for those who are on mobile devices, you’ve lost about half of your potential customers right there.

Include Contact Information

Always make sure you have contact information included on your site and be sure it’s easy to find. Ideally, you will have it on the home page, and you will have a dedicated contact page. A lot of businesses also put contact info in the footer.

Easy Navigation Is Essential

When someone is on your site, it should always be easy for your visitors to get around your site. You need to have a visible navigation bar on all of your pages, so the visitors never have trouble finding what they need.

Search Functionality

Having a search bar on your site is helpful for many types of websites. It can help people find blog posts that interest them, products they want to learn more about, etc. The larger your site becomes, the more difficult it will be for people to navigate. Adding a search bar will make it much easier for your visitors.

Easy to Read Content

The content that you have on your website should always be easy to read. This includes information in the blogs, product descriptions, about us content, etc. If someone comes to a long wall of text without it being broken up with headers, how likely do you think they’ll be to read it?

These are some relatively simple things that all good websites today should have. No matter the size of your company, these basics will ensure that users have less trouble getting around your website.
